We're Baaaack!
For our 5th... Yes... 5th year on the Playa!!

Our Address for 2011 will be the block of 4:30 and Coming Out.  Note that addresses area always approximate, and we will be somewhere on the 4:30 block.

So.. What are we up to?  We are again mixing Buddhism and Mayhem for Burning Man 2011 (Holy Crap 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Already?).  We will again be meeting to chant in the morning, and our dome will be available for chanting all day long.  Check back later for some other exciting activities we are cooking up for this year.

About Us

Buddhacamp@theLotusDome is a Burning Man theme camp that was started in 2007 by a small group of Burner Buddhists in Seattle, Washington.  The goal of the camp – bring Nichiren Diashonin’s Buddhism to Black Rock City to share with thousands of open minded seeking people and provide a space for fellow practitioners to gather and chant together.   And of course, for every person in the camp to have an excellent and safe burn!

Who are We? 

The camp is currently composed of Buddhists and non-Buddhists from Seattle, Olympia, Boise, Las Vegas and California.  More Buddhists from anywhere are ALWAYS welcome. The camp is made up of individuals from all walks of life – if defined by career we are business owners, lawyers, project managers, engineers, software designers, machinists, government & health care professionals, baristas and yes we even have our very own concierge.  But as our jobs don’t define us - we are a camp filled with artists, dancers, mixologists, PMFs (Professional Makers of Fun), poets, a vegan, and a wanna-be-aerialist.  We walk all roads of life choices and backgrounds and we live together in one 150 x 100 block of playa for approximately 7 to 11 days out of the year in peace and harmony as any good Buddhist utopia should.

For the last 3 years, friends from all over the world came to chant with us, learn about this wonderful practice and how to share it with others to enable them to attain unlimited happiness in their own lives, heck..some of you even helped us build the first Lotus Dome!!  

We want to give a proper shout out to you beautiful playa peeps and invite you back to visit us again: Black Rock City District meets every day, [Mon-Sat] @11:30am for Gongyo (recitation of the Lotus Sutra) & Daimoku (chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo) and "mini"-district meeting to discuss Buddhist concepts.  See you all then!
